The core of the FIRST program is the “3 plus 2” schedule, which requires 5 workouts per week. 3 of the workouts are running workouts, including track work, tempo runs and long runs. The other 2 workouts are aerobic cross-training workouts, such as swimming, rowing or stationary biking. The book comes with detailed training schedules for 5K, 10K, half marathons and marathons.
