According to Running USA, the half marathon is the fastest-growing race category in running today. There are over 650,000 half marathon finishers in the United States every year, and this number is growing rapidly. Half marathons are popular, and growing more so, for many reasons. Here are the simple ones:

1. Half marathon training is less time-consuming than marathon training
2. Recovery is faster (vs. a marathon)
3. There is less chance of injury (vs. a marathon), and
4. The race is short enough to be accessible for beginners but long enough to test the most experienced runners.
